Home Shopping

Living with our in-laws isn’t a terrible thing. I get along with them very well. It is a great setup. We can shop for a house and have no time-line requirements. So far we have probably seen 50 homes in person, but before I go on, I need to explain our requirements.

We are looking for a house we can easily afford. Something not more than 220,000 total cost including any improvements the house may need. We also would like:

2 car garage

3 bedrooms

2+ bathrooms

2nd Family/Media room

Backyard for our dog

Close to work and school

Good neighborhood

Away from busy street

Master Bathroom

NOT a split level or multi-level home

With all of that out of the way, lets go over just a few of the houses we found. One to note was a rambler that came straight out of 1955. Everything in the house was original, right down to the glass cube sconces in the living room. It was a house that needed more help than we are prepared to give. Over half the houses were split level or multi-level, so we really cut down our list from the beginning.

The houses we did like were all too expensive. It seems like the sweet spot is around 240k. Anything less and you end up with a home with some real issues. I can’t believe how some people let their houses get so bad.

So at this point we are still just looking, saving up our money in hopes to find our next perfect house.
